The production of the Fortnite Festival commercial with Hatsune Miku was a global-scale challenge that sought to merge two worlds: the reality of gamers with the virtual universe of the game. The challenge was to create an audiovisual piece that would not only announce the collaboration but also capture the electric energy and excitement of music and gaming. It required a flawless execution to fluidly blend live-action with high-tech CGI, achieving a seamless visual experience.
Under the direction of FILFURY and the cinematography of Dan Frantz, the production companies Untold and Tantor Films approached this project with a hybrid production strategy. We focused on filming the live-action scenes with a vibrant, neon-lit aesthetic that would serve as the perfect foundation for the digital elements. The vision was for the transition between the real and virtual to be so organic that the audience would be fully immersed in the world of Fortnite Festival.
The result is a dynamic and visually stunning commercial that celebrates the synergy between gaming and pop culture. The production is a testament to how the combination of bold creative direction and top-tier technical execution can bring the most ambitious concepts to life.
